The Gundam Thread

MCM Expo looked like a lot of fun. Why does the Machu cosplayer promoting Gundam need gloves to complete the costume though? couldn't they just....you know....use their real hands? :)

Interesting trivia about the origin of the name of the show. Thanks @zappi
Per the lanyard they were seemingly trans, so it seems they felt most comfortable entirely masking themselves in an anime aesthetic cosplay. Could be someone who faces persecution in their daily life so this was an escape into their true identity.

The Gundam stuff at the con was fun, even if they didn't go as flat out as last time in some areas (October had a lot of forthcoming Gundam merch on display. Here it was largely stuff already out.)

Minutes after posting that did occur to me. I'd previously liked the post about the lanyard and somehow missed that could have been the reason they were wearing the gloves. Nice that they have a way to feel comfortable at the con while also helping with promotion and having fun. I'm such a doofus at times.

You didn't say anything bigoted. S'cool.

They're also wearing tights, I think, so it could just be a tactic to colour-match the face's skin tone if they happen to be more tan.

Edit: Or I suppose they might have painted their nails in some fancy way which didn't match the character but they didn't want to remove the art!

At MCM they had some samples of Gundam Assemble (what is basically Gundam Warhammer). Doubt I'd get into the game but the minis themselves look pretty solid. Sadly they got pushed back to 2026, so I've been getting my fix with Gundam Artifact. These are basically mini fixed posed kits that up the mechanical detail (to sometimes insufferable amounts). My article covering Gundam at this May's MCMComicCon is live. I should hopefully be doing a sequel to this which covers my thoughts on the upcoming Gundam Card Game.

Kinda a Gundam Duck episode 8 spoiler and Gunpla rant all in one

If GFreD becomes a P-Bandai exclusive I'm going to actually hate Bandai so much. That paint job looks amazing and after the poor treatment of Heavyarms Custom being P Bandai exclusive I can see them doing it.....

Please prove me wrong Bandai. Please

As far as I'm aware the only current P Bandai destined GQuuuuuuX kit is Sayla's Light Cannon. The line seems largely designed with the kits carefully planned out. If we're getting Xavier's at retail, there's no way we won't get THAT too.
